CATSINaM Scholarship Opportunities 2024

The Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives offers several scholarship opportunities each year to CATSINaM members.  The scholarships aim to support Members to engage in professional development opportunities, complete their studies, or network with peers. Current scholarships are listed below.

Integrity Health & Safety Professional Development Scholarship

Integrity Health and Safety is sponsoring CATSINaM to provide bursaries worth $1000 to eligible applicants to participate in the following professional development courses:

  • First Aid,
  • CPR,
  • Flu Vaccination and,
  • Leadership courses.
Am I eligible?

To be eligible for this bursary you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.  
  • Currently enrolled in a nursing program at an Australian tertiary institution.
  • Be a CATSINaM member.
  • Provide formal confirmation of the approved course.
  • Have not defaulted on a previously awarded CATSINaM scholarship or bursary.
  • Not received CATSINaM scholarship funding in the last two years.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service is sponsoring CATSINAM to provide Rural and Remote Clinical Placement Scholarship worth $2,500 to CATSINaM student members to support travel to a rural and remote location in Australia.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.  
  • Currently enrolled in a nursing program at an Australian tertiary institution and actively studying.
  • Be a CATSINaM student member.
  • Provide formal confirmation of your approved clinical placement.
  • Have not defaulted on a previously awarded CATSINaM scholarship or bursary.
  • Not received CATSINaM scholarship funding in the last two years.

CATSINaM 2024 National Conference Scholarship
CATSINaM is offering scholarships to eligible applicants to attend and participate in our National Conference 2024 – ‘Stand Stronger Together, Yoogoo moorditj doiyntj- doiyntj’’ .  This is being held on Walyalup Country, Freemantle WA on 29-31st of October 2024.
 
The following Scholarships will be available for the event:
  • Six (6) scholarships for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait student currently enrolled in an undergraduate nursing and/or midwifery program at an Australian tertiary institute
  • Six (6) scholarships for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander nurse and/or midwife.
The scholarship will cover the following:
  • Return travel to and from your place of residence,  including transfers
  • Welcome social event – Tues 29th Oct)
  • Pre-conference workshop  (Leadership WS for Students) (Tues 29th Oct)
  • Full registration for both conference days
  • Gala Dinner at Optus Stadium in Perth (Thurs 31st Oct) 
Am I eligible?
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:
 
Student Scholarship
  • Be a CATSINaM member.
  • Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.   
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate nursing or midwifery program at an Australian tertiary institute
  • Provide formal confirmation of the approved course.
  • Have not defaulted on a previously awarded CATSINaM scholarship or bursary.
  • Not received CATSINaM scholarship funding in the last two years.
  •  Agree to participate in at least one CATSINaM marketing and promotion event. 
Nursing and Midwife Scholarship
  • Be a CATSINaM member.
  • Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.   
  • Have not defaulted on a previously awarded CATSINaM scholarship or bursary.
  • Not received CATSINaM scholarship funding in the last two years.
  • Agree to participate in at least one CATSINaM marketing and promotion event.
