CATSINaM Scholarship Opportunities 2024
The Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives offers several scholarship opportunities each year to CATSINaM members. The scholarships aim to support Members to engage in professional development opportunities, complete their studies, or network with peers. Current scholarships are listed below.

Integrity Health & Safety Professional Development Scholarship
Integrity Health and Safety is sponsoring CATSINaM to provide bursaries worth $1000 to eligible applicants to participate in the following professional development courses:
- First Aid,
- CPR,
- Flu Vaccination and,
- Leadership courses.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible for this bursary you must meet the following requirements:
- Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
- Currently enrolled in a nursing program at an Australian tertiary institution.
- Be a CATSINaM member.
- Provide formal confirmation of the approved course.
- Have not defaulted on a previously awarded CATSINaM scholarship or bursary.
- Not received CATSINaM scholarship funding in the last two years.

Royal Flying Doctors Remote Clinical Placement Scholarship
The Royal Flying Doctor Service is sponsoring CATSINAM to provide Rural and Remote Clinical Placement Scholarship worth $2,500 to CATSINaM student members to support travel to a rural and remote location in Australia.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
- Currently enrolled in a nursing program at an Australian tertiary institution and actively studying.
- Be a CATSINaM student member.
- Provide formal confirmation of your approved clinical placement.
- Have not defaulted on a previously awarded CATSINaM scholarship or bursary.
- Not received CATSINaM scholarship funding in the last two years.

Growing Deadly Families Uniform and Textbook Bursary
Growing Deadly Families Uniform and Textbook Bursary
Twenty bursaries worth $1000 each are available for eligible CATSINaM members to be reimbursed for uniform and textbook expenses.
Am I eligible?
- A CATSINaM member.
- Undergraduate enrolled Midwifery Student OR
- A postgraduate nurse or midwife studying in maternal child, family health, and perinatal mental health
- Can provide proof of enrolment
- Living in Queensland.
- Not defaulted on previous CATSINaM funding opportunities.

CATSINaM CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIPS
Growing Deadly Families – Australian College of Midwives (ACM) Queensland State Conference Scholarship
CATSINaM is offering up to 17 scholarships to eligible applicants to attend and participate in the ACM Queensland State Conference on the 3 & 4th of May in Toowoomba.
The scholarship will cover:
- Registration
- Conference dinner
- Travel
- Accommodation
- Meals
Am I eligible?
- A CATSINaM member.
- Undergraduate enrolled Midwifery Student
- OR
- A postgraduate nurse or midwife studying in maternal child, family health, and perinatal mental health
- Can provide proof of enrolment
- Living in Queensland.
- Not defaulted on previous CATSINaM funding opportunities.

The Australian College of Midwifery - 26th National Conference Scholarship.
CATSINaM is offering four (scholarships) to attend ACM National Conference from the 10th to the 12th of September at the Pullman Albert Park in Melbourne.
There are:
- Two (2) scholarships for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait student currently enrolled in a nursing, enrolled nurse and/or midwifery program at an Australian tertiary institute and
- Two (2) scholarships for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander nurse, enrolled nurse and/or midwife.
Am I eligible:
Student Scholarship
- Be a CATSINaM member.
- Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
- Currently enrolled in a nursing or midwifery program at an Australian tertiary institute.
- Provide formal confirmation of the approved course.
- Have not defaulted on a previously awarded CATSINaM scholarship or bursary.
- Not received CATSINaM scholarship funding in the last two years.
- Agree to participate in at least one CATSINaM marketing and promotion event for example sharing a story in the CATSINaM newsletter or participating in a photo and/or video shoot.
Nursing and Midwife Scholarship
- Be a CATSINaM member.
- Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
- Have not defaulted on a previously awarded CATSINaM scholarship or bursary.
- Not received CATSINaM scholarship funding in the last two years.
- Agree to participate in at least one CATSINaM marketing and promotion event.

CATSINaM is offering four (scholarships) to attend the ACN National Forum from the 14th to the 16th of August at the Cairns Convention Centre.
There are:
- Two (2) scholarships for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait student currently enrolled in a nursing, enrolled nurse and/or midwifery program at an Australian tertiary institute and
- Two (2) scholarships for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander nurse, enrolled nurse and/or midwife.
Am I eligible:
Student Scholarship
- Be a CATSINaM member.
- Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
- Currently enrolled in a nursing or midwifery program at an Australian tertiary institute.
